January 2010 – Roseville Chamber Takes Lead In Signature Gathering
The Roseville Chamber successfully took the lead in signature gathering in order to qualify an initiative prohibiting the state of California from borrowing or re-directing local transportation and government project funds on the November 2010 ballot. Proposition 22 passed on November 2, 2010.
February 2010 – Roseville Chamber Receives 4-Star Accreditation
The Roseville Chamber of Commerce received notice from the United States Chamber of Commerce in February that they were granted four-star accreditation status after an extensive review and rigorous examination of the Roseville Chamber organization. The Roseville Chamber is the only accredited chamber in the Sacramento Valley, one of only 12 accredited in California, and one of 82 4-Star accredited chambers in the entire United States of America.
April 2010 – NEC Electronics Corporation and Renesas Technology Corp. Merger Finalized
Japanese company Renesas Electronics Corporation (Renesas Electronics) and NEC Electronics finalized the integration of the two companies on April 1, 2010. NEC Electronics, now Renesas Electronics America, has been a member of the Roseville Chamber since March of 1987.
April 2010 – Roseville Chamber Goes Social
The Roseville Chamber of Commerce unveiled its blog in April of 2010 – RosevilleChamberNOW.com. The site is an interactive platform that provides updates of business and member news, Roseville Chamber events and offerings and area community information that is pushed out on all Roseville Chamber social media platforms on a daily basis.
April 2010 –Sacramento Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Selects Several Ignite Members
10 of the Sacramento Business Journal’s top 40 young professionals were members of the Roseville Chamber or its Ignite Next Generation Leaders organization. Chamber board member and 2010 Ignite president Brian Whitmore served as one of the judges of the competition that reviewed over 340 nominations.
May 2010 – Roseville Welcomes New City Manager
After a months-long search, the Roseville City Council approved Ray Kerridge as the City Manager in May of 2010. Kerridge previously served as Sacramento’s manager and before that spent 25 years in Portland with the Bureau of Development Services. Mr. Kerridge has a “business friendly” reputation.
May 2010 – Roseville 2010 Event Celebrates 25th Year
The Roseville Chamber’s annual economic showcase event celebrated its 25th year in May of 2010. The event featured keynote speaker Kevin Surace, Inc. Magazine’s 2009 Entrepreneur of the Year and CEO of Serious Materials and special appearance by Olympic Silver Medalist Shannon Bahrke.
September 2010 – South Placer Business Walk
The Roseville Chamber along with the Sac Metro, Lincoln and Rocklin Chambers, the cities of Lincoln and Rocklin and Placer County visited over 1,200 businesses with the help of 200+ volunteers to take the pulse of our business community. October 2010- Kronick Moskovitz Tiedemann & Girard opens its doors in Roseville
The law firm of Kronick Moskovitz Tiedemann & Girard welcomed longtime Roseville attorney Randall Wilson to the firm and opened an office in Roseville. Randy Wilson serves as the Roseville Chamber’s Secretary/Treasurer on the board of directors.
October 2010 – Galleria at Roseville Fire
The 1.3 million square foot Galleria at Roseville Mall fell victim to arson on October 21st. A quarter of the structure was destroyed or heavily damaged. The Westfield Galleria generates $3.2 million a year in sales-tax revenue for the city of Roseville, or about $9,000 per day. One third of the total — or $1.1 million — is generated during the fourth quarter. By October 29th the mall was partially reopened and by Black Friday in time for the Holiday shopping season, all stores in unaffected areas were open for business.
November 2010 – Roseville Auto Mall Re-Grand Opening
The Roseville Auto Mall celebrated its new look in November 2010 with new display pads that showcase dealer inventory at six locations surrounding the mall. The re-grand opening also celebrated the malls 20th anniversary.
November 2010 – Two Past Chamber Presidents are Elected Into Office
Two of the Roseville Chamber’s past presidents were elected in the November Gubernatorial Election. Dr. Tim Herman was elected to the Roseville City Council as was fellow chamber member Susan Rohan. Howard Rudd, another past president of the Roseville Chamber of Commerce, was elected to serve as a Sierra College trustee.
December 2010 – Chamber Presents City of Roseville with Splash Proceeds Check
Roseville Chamber CEO Wendy Gerig attended the December Roseville City Council meeting and presented Mayor Pauline Roccucci with a $29,020 check from Splash event proceeds. Over the years the Roseville Chamber has raised over $300,000 for various Roseville Parks and Recreation projects and programs from Splash proceeds.
