A letter from Chief Braziel:
Hello,
As Chief of the Sacramento Police Department, I would like to take a minute of your time to ask for your help, while at the same time providing your business with an extraordinary opportunity.
HHHThe Sacramento Police Department is embarking on a unique adventure that will bring national attention to the nearly 19,000 law enforcement officers who have been killed while protecting the communities of this nation. On June 18, 2011, the Sacramento Police Department Cycling Team was the first all law enforcement team to compete in the Race Across America. The race is an epic 3,000-mile bicycle race from California to Maryland. In June of 2012 Team Sac PD plans to take on that challenge again!
Sac PD’s cycling team will again raise money and bring media attention to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington DC. Working with the hundreds of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies along the route, Team SPD will honor law enforcement officers killed by carrying their names, visiting local and state memorials, and encouraging media coverage of our efforts.
On average, one law enforcement officer is killed in the line of duty somewhere in the United States every 53 hours. As a racing member of Team Sac PD, I encourage you to help us at the Sacramento Police Department honor America’s law enforcement officers as we work to commemorate the sacrifice of our fallen comrades
Team Sac PD’s efforts provide an exceptional sponsorship opportunity for your company. As a sponsor, you are sure to receive exposure from media campaigns as well as gain exposure to state and local law enforcement personnel along the route. Your dedication to law enforcement makes you an ideal partner for this venture.
We have several different packages for sponsorship. For more information and a fast, secure way to donate, please visit our website at www.sacpd.org/teamsacpd/raam. You can choose how you would like to participate in the event and honor officers who have given their lives so that our communities are safer.
I look forward to hearing from you. If you have any queries please feel free to contact me. Thank you for being a supporter of law enforcement and we look forward to your support in this unique endeavor.
Sincerely,
Rick Braziel
Chief of Police
Sacramento Police Department
Guidelines
We understand that organizations primary objective for sponsorships/promotions is to generate sales. Therefore, we are committed to maximizing your company’s exposure to markets through various techniques such as: social media blasts; press releases; media coverage; logos on jerseys/vehicles throughout the event and during training; access to mailing lists; signage events; promotional giveaways. We will also work with sponsors to cover other areas upon request. A secondary commitment is to ensure high quality exposure with our marketing strategies for our sponsors.
Target Audience
The primary target audience for the Race Across America is adults 18-54 who are actively involved in physical fitness. Additional exposure will be to various federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies across the route as well as businesses who partner with them.
Sponsorship Objectives/Guidelines
As a sponsor, we will ensure that the audience is aware of your sponsorship, but also to be able to pass out information and or opportunities to audience members along the way. Sponsors will have the option of using athletes to participate in advertising promotions such as media, TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, and direct mail. We will provide every sponsor with adequate time and space to deliver a specific strategic sales message.
Understanding that brand-name recognition is important to your business is also a key component to the marketing capabilities of our team. A logo or name exposure does not have the value as a partnership that goes above and beyond. We will make our team available to conduct promotional opportunities as well as interviews, marketing plans that your organization can utilize to drive business.
Promotional/Sponsorship Elements
A partnership with Team SacPD means that we will provide value in your sponsorship. Our media plan is to reach out to every media outlet we can to inform people of our cause and to thank our partners. Promotional elements can range from direct marketing, program ads, signage, giveaways, and other items that the sponsor may find value in.
Event Sponsorship
The Race Across America (RAAM) is an epic, non-stop 3,000 bicycle race from Oceanside, California to Annapolis, Maryland. It goes through 14 states throughout the route. The race begins on 6/12/2012 and the anticipated date of finish is 6/19/2012.
The Sacramento Police Department will bring national attention to the 19,000 law enforcement officers who have been killed while protecting the communities of this nation by raising awareness and money for the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington DC. Working with hundreds of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies along the route, Team SPD will honor law enforcement officers killed by carrying their names, visiting state and local memorials, and encouraging media coverage of our efforts.
This is a great opportunity to connect people across the country to the law enforcement officers who protect their communities as well as commemorating the lives of those lost. Being the 10th anniversary of 9/11/01, we should do everything possible to bring this nation closer together. The Sacramento Police Department has always been on the forefront of Community Oriented Policing. We value the community partnerships we make, and we want to pass the same enthusiasm to every city and town we encounter. American pride and community involvement are things that we feel strongly about. Last year was the first time Team SPD entered RAAM and we finished in 7th place. This year, we are committed to riding even harder for our sponsors. We have a great plan to get out and promote the event, while thanking the partners who help us make this endeavor happen. The members of Team SPD are great ambassadors for our organization, one which is recognized throughout the nation as a highly educated department who is on the edge of new and innovative policing models. We have strong ties to our communities with the various out-reach, volunteering, and mentoring that our employees do. We pledge to take the same response to the companies who assist us along our journey.
We have a variety of sponsorship levels available and opportunities are proportionate with the level of sponsorship.
