California Legislature Comments Rotary Club

On June 18, 2012, the Rotary Club of Roseville received a Resolution from the California Legislature signed by Senator Ted Gaines and Assembly Member Beth Gaines and presented by Senator Gaines in the Senate Chambers. The Resolution commended the Rotary Club of Roseville for winning the Changemaker Award for Large Clubs. To win the Changemaker award, Roseville Rotary first had to compete with all of the Rotary Clubs in District 5180, the Greater Sacramento area, then the Clubs in Zone 25 and then be judged against all of the Clubs who were eligible from the 33,000 Rotary Club around the world.  Each Club was judged on its accomplishments in the Rotary Avenues of Service.  These are  activities where Rotarians can use their professional skills in local community service projects, programs developing youth leaders such the Rotary Youth Leadership (RYLA) and Interact Clubs in the high schools, and programs working with Rotary Clubs in other countries to expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach around the globe and to promote world understanding and peace. These avenues of service help promote Rotary’s motto which is “Service Above Self”.

Roseville Rotary President Michael Reinero stated, “We are very proud of this honor bestowed upon us by Rotary International, holding our club above all others in the world as the best large club.”

The Rotary Club of Roseville was formed in 1938 as the 547th Rotary Club in the world.  Rotary meets most Tuesdays at noon at Sierra View Country Club.
